Skin Blüm: The Beauty of Being from Here

Skin Blüm: The Beauty of Being from Here is a documentary project that explores beauty as a cultural language in south Mississippi. Through intimate interviews, personal skincare rituals, and everyday visuals, the film highlights how Black residents in Mississippi define and express beauty in their own terms. This project seeks to archive and celebrate the often-overlooked aesthetics, pride, and power rooted in small-town Southern life. Created by beauty content creator Joshua Iman, the film will premiere locally and online, paired with a digital zine and community conversation to inspire dialogue, healing, and deeper appreciation for local identity.

Joshua Iman is a multidisciplinary beauty content creator, photographer, videographer, and podcast host originally from Utica, Mississippi.
