Shameka L. Reed is a creative force, using storytelling, media, and cultural experiences as her artistic canvas. Whether through film, digital platforms, or immersive community events, her work centers on celebrating culture, amplifying Black voices, and fostering meaningful human connection.
Shameka’s artistic vision also comes to life as Chief Storyteller of Young, Gifted & Empowered Media (YG&E), a multimedia platform dedicated to honoring Black excellence in Mississippi and the South. Through original content, digital storytelling, and event production, she brings untold stories to the forefront, crafting narratives that are as visually compelling as they are culturally relevant. Her signature production, the YG&E Awards (est. 2015), is a celebration of Black brilliance rooted in Mississippi pride. Expanding this vision, YG&E TV—a streaming platform available on Roku, iOS, and Android—serves as a dedicated space for diverse, inclusive, and empowering Black narratives.
