Apply Now: Lead Server/Steward – Main Street Cultural Center

We are looking for a competent Lead Server & Steward to take charge of the front of the house (FoH) experience. You’ll be the face of the Center and responsible for our guests’ experiences. This position will also require involvement in programs operated at, or in conjunction with the Main St. Cultural Center such as the ElderShare Program, The Farmers Market, The Food Club.

Other responsibilities in the Eatery function of the Center include ensuring our tables are clean and tidy when guests arrive, presenting menus and serving food and beverages. You need to be quick on your feet (literally and metaphorically) and have a polite and friendly attitude. If you enjoy talking to people and thrive in a fast-paced workplace, we’d like to meet you.

Your ultimate goal will be to provide high-quality service that will help us maintain good relations with guests, visitors and community members.

Responsibilities

Understand all the functions of the facility, and coach other service members
Learn and understand full functionality of available POS system and coach other team members as needed
Prepare dining tables with special attention to sanitation and order
Attend to customers upon entrance
Present restaurant menus and help customers select food/beverages, take and serve orders and answer questions or make recommendations for complementary products
Issue bills and accept payment
Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen staff
Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude and relay any escalated issues to the FM for a good resolve.
Coordinating with FM and Utilities personnel for setup/breakdown of event tables and/or seating and table arrangements as necessary for events.
Coordinating with FM and Kitchen staff to ensure event related requirements are in place for scheduled events.
Assisting and ensuring proper cleanliness of restroom areas regularly and replenishment of supplies needed for guest comfort
Ensuring and assisting with general cleanliness of and general facility.

Requirements and skills

Proven catering, restaurant serving or waitering experience working directly with the public
Hands-on experience in cashier duties
Attention to cleanliness and safety
Patience and customer-oriented approach
Excellent people skills with a friendly attitude
Responsible and trustworthy
High school diploma is a plus but not required
