This week, the Sipp Culture administrative team took a day to go out to Hattiesburg, MS to assist RPPL (Rural Performance/Production Lab) artist, Bailey Hutchison and her dad with the construction of an A-frame glamping tent on their farm. The tent will be 1 of 3 that will serve as artist residency and retreat space at TruCulture Community.

Carlton, Jonathan, Book, and a little help from Saint, took on the big task of nailing and carving the frames for the foundation…

…while Brandi, Bailey, Tonya, Chucky, Saint, and Triston gathered food, harvested peppers, tomatoes, okra, peas, and other food from the garden.

This was Sipp Culture being in community with others who are doing remarkable work in their community and for their community. Our work really goes beyond our core initiatives, community is unpredictable and you never know when you’ll have to roll your sleeves up and get a little dirty with your community members.
